Scott Point Primary School is a local community school in Hobsonville, Auckland. This brand new school is being built in Scott Road, Hobsonville Point for Year 1-8 learners and will serve the growing community there. It will also take the pressure off the roll at Hobsonville Point Primary.
Of particular note will be the establishment within the school site of a Visual Resource Centre (VRC) for BLENNZ (Blind and Low Vision Education Network NZ). This unit will comprise up to three satellite classrooms and a number of itinerant teachers known as RTVs or Resource Teachers Vision. These teachers work out in mainstream and special schools in West Auckland and North Shore schools supporting students who are blind or low vision.
The school will be open for instruction in February 2021.
Pam King has been appointed by the Establishment board as Principal of Scott Point Primary School and commenced immediately as a co-opted board member. She has worked with the board on the development of the school’s vision and strategic direction. Pam started as an employee of the board from 28th January 2020. Adam Baker has been appointed as the Deputy Principal and Sarah Woodgate has been appointed as the Assistant Principal. Both will start with Pam in Term 2 2020. Together the Senior Leadership team will work towards the development of the curriculum, based on the vision and strategic direction along with the employment of teaching staff and ultimately the opening of the school.
A proposed enrolment zone will be in place for the school as directed by the Ministry of Education and community consultation will take place regarding the proposed enrolment zone from 10th of February 2020.
